Even though the sunshine state still receives ample sun in the winter, the changing of seasons is always a great time to perform some routine maintenance and spruce things up around your home. Plus, since it’s not blazing hot quite yet, being outdoors is still enjoyable.
Check Your Shingles
Examine roof shingles to see if any were lost or damaged during winter and evaluate your budget for any repairs. Loose or cracked shingles should be replaced and flashing around plumbing vents, skylights and chimneys need to be checked and repaired by a qualified roofer.
Clean Your Gutters
Check for leaking or loose gutters and make sure downspouts are clear.
Inspect Your Concrete
Inspect concrete slabs for damage, cracks, and signs of movement. Fill cracks with a concrete crack filler or silicone caulk. Spring is also a great time to power wash driveways, concrete foundations, and siding.
Service Your AC Unit
In Florida it seems we go from winter to summer without much of a spring, so be sure your AC unit is working properly to avoid any days spent in complete discomfort. We recommend having a certified technician clean the coils and change filters.
Check Power Equipment
While those of us living in warmer states don’t get a complete break from lawn maintenance, we do tend to have to mow and maintain our lawns less frequently during the winter. Now is a great time to make sure all equipment is in proper working order for the summer.
